Why do we measure these biomarkers?

Testosterone
A deficiency in testosterone can lead to:

  • Low energy
  • Increase in visceral fat
  • Low sexual desire
  • Problems with focusing
  • Low motivation
  • Poorer health status

Sex Hormone Binding Globulin: Indicates how much active testosterone you have available. Higher levels can lead to more low T symptoms.

Free Androgen Index: This test shows if there are abnormal androgen levels.

Oestradiol
This hormone has many important functions:

  • essential to cardiovascular health
  • decreases your risk of osteoporosis
  • decreases your risk of Alzheimer’s and dementia
  • shows how much testosterone you have converted to Estradiol

Prolactin: This test is used to determine if low testosterone is caused by a pituitary tumor. Elevated levels require a medical follow up.
